ok so matcha before a run
Tried swapping my pre-run coffee for matcha about three weeks ago and honestly I wasn't expecting much. Coffee's been my thing for years.
But the difference is real — less of that sharp buzz and then crash halfway through, more like a steady hum that actually lasts. Nutritionally speaking, it's the L-theanine working alongside the caffeine that does it. Slows the absorption, smooths it out. That's the mechanism anyway, not magic.
I've been doing a quick matcha latte about 30 minutes before I head out. Nothing fancy, just whisked with oat milk. My runs have felt more comfortable I suppose — not faster, not some transformation, just less fighting myself for the first kilometre.
Might be placebo, mind you. But I'll take it.
